    The finished hearth.
    Paint stone above the strong profile and along the 1-foot wide panel between the wall and the hearth which was moved forward 12 inches from the wall to maintain an appropriate sense of scale. The transition from the real stone to the painted parts was imperceptible, even to the touch - except for the cooler physical temperature of the real stone!
